About Tom

Tom's lifelong passion for photography, particularly capturing cars, began under the guidance of his father during adventurous photo shoots in his childhood. This early exposure ignited a deep love for both cars and photography, shaping his career path.

Formal education played a crucial role in Tom's development as a photographer and designer. He dedicated three years to intensive study at a photography school, honing his technical skills and artistic vision. Following this, he spent two years at graphic design school, expanding his creative capabilities.

Tom's professional journey started at a Ilford Pro digital photo lab, where he managed operations and gained expertise in digital photography and printing technologies. His career then pivoted to the design department of a Los Angeles-based trade show company. Here, he applied his graphic design skills to craft engaging booth designs and graphics, demonstrating versatility across visual mediums.

In 2002, Tom's career took a significant turn when he joined the Long Beach Grand Prix as a photographer and graphic designer. His role immersed him in the high-energy world of automotive and racing photography, marking a pivotal chapter in his career. Although briefly lured away by a local defense contractor to apply his photography skills in a different context, Tom maintained his connection with the Grand Prix, eventually returning as a photographer and later as chief photographer for race weekends.

In 2012, Tom made the bold decision to embark on a freelance career, leveraging his extensive experience and artistic flair. His debut book, "Art of the Corvette," co-authored with Randy Leffingwell, marked the beginning of a successful series of automotive photography books. Titles like "Art of the Mustang," "Wide Open Muscle," "The Art of Speed - Classic Motorcycles," and "Art of Mopar" showcase his distinct style and passion for automotive design.

Tom's journey underscores the power of passion, mentorship, and lifelong learning in shaping a successful career. His ability to seamlessly blend photography and design has cemented his reputation as a prominent figure in automotive photography and authorship.
